Living with a fatiguing heath condition that fluctuates is confusing and stressful.

Medical management is limited and people find themselves “living with” it. Learning to do this is hard and also stressful. Many health professionals can feel overwhelmed and confused too.

Mindfulness can support effective self-management through compassionate embodied awareness. Mindfulness for fatigue is the result of a collaboration of specialist clinicians and people living with fatigue. Some of this work is shared here and training and support for therapists and mindfulness practitioners to use in their clinics and classes is being developed, please stay in touch to find out more.

If you or your clients live with ME/CFS, long covid or fibromyalgia or some other fatigue condition you have probably tried medication, resting, exercising, diets and supplements as well as pacing and perhaps positive thinking. You may well face spent a lot of money and time on this too. Some of this may well have helped but living with a fluctuating condition and having to manage it is hard work and if it was easy it would have worked.

There are ways to find a way through this and feel better. To rest, pause  and calm the dysregulated state that enables us to access embodied wisdom and find the next step to what is perhaps more compassionate and important to us.

We have found a mindfulness based approach is a way to live with joys as well as the hardships of life. We have helped hundreds of people feel better by sharing our own practice and embedding kindly awareness within the self management recognised by UK Nice guidance and NHS clinics.

  • Quotes from people who have used the programme

“It’s hugely increased my self-awareness so I’m better placed to understand my habits and patterns, and why/when they’re getting me into trouble; and allowing me to focus my practice on those areas likely to be of most benefit. It’s helpful for pacing and taking more appropriate and timely action. The most significant benefit has been in increasing my self-compassion, and the many knock-on benefits that has.”

  • Quotes from people who have used the programme

“To breathe with mindfulness enables me to put things into perspective, which in turn enables me to approach the challenging dilemmas of the everyday in a calm and collected way, to respond with a calm reason and authoritative self-assurance.”

  • Quotes from people who have used the programme

The learning and development from mindfulness is a continuous process, and by no means have I reached the end of the road in my journey, but that is the exciting part of this lifelong journey. Looking ahead, even when I become physically frail due to the inevitable aging process and unable to do much, I will always be able to practice just being in the here and now.
